Advent Preaching Series on the Mass

This weekend begins our Advent Preaching Series on the Mass. Throughout this season, Fr. Miguel and I will be delving deeper into the meaning, theology, and symbolism of our worship of God during the Holy Sacrifice of the Mass. I hope this series will enable all of us to enter deeper into the  mystery of our liturgical worship as we prepare to receive him anew at Christmas.

December 1st Adoration in Church: Praying for “Dobbs” Supreme Court Case

From the Diocese of Lansing: “On December 1st 2021, the U.S. Supreme Court will hear the Dobbs v. Jackson Women’s Health Organization (AKA Dobbs). This case is different from past Supreme Court cases in that the central holding of Roe, that abortion is a fundamental right secured by the US  Constitution, is being challenged. There is a very real  possibility that Roe will be overturned.”

This is a very important case, and here at the parish we are committed to praying and fasting for an end to abortion.  Because of this, on December 1st, we will be having Eucharistic Adoration in the Church to pray for this case and its outcome. Adoration will be from 9:00 AM to 7:00 PM. (Sign up to cover hours is on the parish website) Please stop in to pray for an end to abortion, for wisdom for the Supreme Court justices, and for all mothers and their unborn children.

RRM Final Recommendations Now Public

Just a reminder from my email to the parish, on November 18th, the Diocese of Lansing publicly released the recommendations of the Realign Resources to Mission Committee to Bishop Boyea for how to best move forward on mission in our parishes and diocese. This document is the result of over two years of prayer, consultation, and work on the part of committee members and the faithful of the diocese. If you haven’t already done so, I encourage you to read the document in full - you can find it on our parish website. I’ll say more about what this means to our parish in the weeks and months ahead. Please continue to pray for Bishop Boyea and those tasked with implementation.

Your servant in the Lord,
Fr. Mathias
