Welcome Mackenzie Compton!

Back in February, Deacon Dave Carignan spoke at all the Masses about our plan to expand our marriage preparation process and Marriage and Family Ministry here at the parish. Deacon Dave has been working hard to establish a team and grow this ministry and better serve the couples at our parish.

To that end, it was immediately apparent that we would need someone to assist him in this endeavor as a Marriage Preparation Coordinator and assistant to Marriage and Family Life. After a series of interviews, I am pleased to announce that we have hired Mackenzie Compton to fill this role.

Mackenzie has a great love for the Lord and his Church, and a passion for marriage and family. She will be a great asset to our parish team. Here is a short introduction she wrote – please be sure to warmly welcome Mackenzie and her husband Cavin when you see them!

Your servant in the Lord,
Fr. Mathias

Hello, St. Patrick’s Parish! My name is Mackenzie Compton, and I am looking forward to joining you as your Marriage Preparation Coordinator. My husband, Cavin Compton, and I live in Northville, and were married in September 2019, at Our Lady of Good Counsel parish in Plymouth. We have had a  wonderful journey with Christ thus far, and we are excited to continue to grow at St. Pat’s.

I first encountered Jesus during the Alpha course in 2018; he was knocking on the door of my heart, but I was only looking at him through a window in the door, and not yet willing to open my heart to him. I came to know Christ more deeply while witnessing the passion and zeal my husband has for Jesus when he came into the Church in 2020.

During that process of RCIA, not only did I learn more about my lifelong faith, but I finally opened the door of my heart to Jesus. Since then, he has revealed to me many truths, including God’s holy intention for marriage. It is because of this that I feel called to be your Marriage Preparation Coordinator.

I pray that the Holy Spirit provides me with the wisdom and humility to serve you faithfully at St. Pat’s, and that through my service, I can bring glory to God.

In his love,
Mackenzie Compton
